A graduate of the Sophie Davis School of Biomedical Education at the City College of NY, Psychiatrist Wayne Macfadden, MD, holds a Bachelor’s in Biomedical Science and an MD from the State University of New York at Buffalo School of Medicine. After completing his medical education, Wayne Macfadden MD was an intern in internal medicine, then Resident in Psychiatry before joining Mercy Catholic Medical Center as an Attending Psychiatrist.
Dr. Macfadden then accepted a position as Staff Psychiatrist and later Chief of the Dual Diagnosis Unit at the Philadelphia Veterans Affairs Medical Center. After an eight tenure with the organization, he tackled such roles as Staff Psychiatrist and Director of Substance Abuse Treatment Services at Virtua Health System in New Jersey, as Associate Director in Medical Affairs at GlaxoSmithKline in Collegeville, PA and Medical Director of US Medical and Scientific affairs for Johnson & Johnson in New Jersey. These positions provided a wealth of experience in the research and development of new psychiatric drugs and treatments.
Dr. Wayne Macfadden leverages the knowledge he gained during his career as Psychiatrist to the Spirit Lake Indian Tribe in North Dakota, and as President and co=owner of International Psychiatric Services, Inc. In these roles, he provides general psychiatric care to patients, evaluates and treats substance use disorders, and consults with pharmaceutical companies to develop new medications and treatment options.
